Teaching a Lesson on a Subject I Know Nothing About
Strategies to Consider:
You may find yourself teaching a lesson in a content area other than that in which you are certified or particularly knowledgeable. In this case, consider structuring the lesson so that it is more student-directed than teacher-directed; therefore, you will serve as a facilitator instead of an instructor. You may want to employ a cooperative learning strategy so that students are given an opportunity to learn from each other. After all, they have been studying the subject! Consult the resource entitled, Differentiated Instructional Strategies, for specific examples of cooperative learning strategies.
